We're having a Rummage SALE and we need your help!!!

Were looking for volunteers to help out the day of the event and to donate  items for the sale! Take some time to go through your garage and weed out those belongings that are just taking up space and put them to good use! Half the proceeds from the sale go straight to the Movement.

  • Where: MVCC
  • When: SATURDAY July 7th
  • WHY: To benefit the Movement and the Haiti Mission trip.

After seeing the wonders that God can do in Mexico, The Movement  has a strong desire to begin Moving within our own community as well. With the proceeds from the Rummage Sale we are hoping to provide a "Parents night out" free of charge to foster families in the local community. But this can only be a reality with your help! So look for items to donate and see if you can spend a couple of hours helping out on Saturday July 7th... or come shop and have someone elses trash become your next treasure!!!!!

Sharing the Love Across the Border

In a world full of desolation and ungratefulness, it is hard to imagine people wanting to take time out of their busy schedules to help others. Most of the older generations look at the youth today and are frightened by what they see--greedy teens and desensitized children. But I would like to tell you that there is hope for our lost generation. God is calling teens to do extraordinary things with their gifts and giving them a chance to be a light in dark places. They are stepping out of their comfort zones to help people that others ignore.

Last weekend, one of our very own classmates, Danielle Greene, helped aid an orphanage in Tecate, Mexico. Greene, a 20 year-old sophomore, has a job and also attends classes at HIU, but still managed to make time to help children who have never known what a home was like. She traveled with eight other college students from Mission Viejo Christian Church, along with a few of her youth pastors.

Greene helped drop off food, toys, clothes, shampoo, and she also offered her services to help in any way that she could. That included washing dishes, doing laundry, watching the children, playing games, helping make dinner, playing worship songs, cleaning, and just hanging out to show the kids that they care.

When asked about the reason that she wanted to go down to Mexico, Greene responded, "I felt like as a church, and as a college group, we weren't doing enough community service...as soon as I went down there I fell in love with the kids and the place...I was amazed at how much help they needed...and I definitely feel like I need to go back and help."

The college group in planning to go back to the orphanage in the near future and would love your help! It sounds like there is something down there for everyone to do, so I would encourage you that if you haven't been plugged into any community service opportunities, this might be a great idea for you to think about. If you are interested feel free to contact Greene at (949) 813-2488 or you can get in touch with Mission Viejo Christian Church at" (949) 465-1940, and they wuld be happy to get you connected!
