Food From The Heart

Please contact Tom Ketchum for more information

On Saturday, March 24, 2007 small groups and families of Mission Viejo Christian Church will be participating in an event with an incredible opportunity to provide food to our hungry and homeless families here in Orange County. Volunteers will man our local super markets to request food donations for the hungry and homeless. We will be distributing food to families through our own SPIN ministry & South County Outreach, (formerly Saddleback Outreach).

* With a 3 1/2 hour commitment of your time, you and your group will serve in front of a local grocery store. There are 2 shifts available: 9:00 am-12:30 and 12:30- 4:00 pm

* Volunteers will hand shoppers a list of needed items and a red bag to collect those items in. Most shoppers welcome the opportunity to give a couple of items for the food drive.

* As shoppers exit the store, volunteers collect the food and begin to fill up grocery carts outside the doors. By the end of the day, the average store will have 15-20 full carts.

* By 5:00 P.M. the drive is over and the results are always amazing.

The Food Drive is a great opportunity for the whole family your small groups, your neighborhood to be involved.
